Every retainer follows this structure. Phase 1 is non-negotiable. Phases 2 and 3 are concurrent after week six.
We read everything: the analytics, the email programme, the last two years of paid creative, your customer interviews. We rebuild the data layer if needed.
We produce a written strategy memo (12–18 pages, no slides) covering positioning, channel mix, measurement plan, and quarterly milestones. Reviewed live, revised.
Campaigns, infrastructure, and content go live in priority order. Weekly stand-up with your in-house team. Bi-weekly review with the founder.
We optimise quarterly against the plan and transfer ownership to your in-house team over 12–18 months. Most engagements graduate by quarter five.

Spitz Digital was founded in 2021 by three former in-house marketers from Amsterdam and Rotterdam. We had grown tired of agencies that sell decks and the in-house roles that fight politics instead of doing the work. The studio is our compromise: independent, disciplined, deliberately small.
We work in writing. Strategy memos, not slides. Numbered briefs, not chat threads. Quarterly reviews that read like engineering post-mortems. The discipline isn't aesthetic — it's the only way three people can serve five clients without dropping a stitch.
Our clients are mainly Dutch, German, and Scandinavian. We work in English on engagements that span borders, and in Dutch when the client prefers it. Most retainers start with a 90-minute conversation in our studio in Middenbeemster, or over video if the kilometres are inconvenient.
